Accessibility
How this website is kept usable for everyone and how to report a barrier.
Last updated: 19 October 2026
newsfoti aims to make newsfoti.net usable on any device, in any browser and with any assistive technology. This statement sets out what has been done, which shortcomings remain and how to report a problem.
1. Our commitment
We regard accessible pages as ordinary maintenance work at newsfoti rather than an additional feature. Every new page and every change to the design is checked to make sure the text remains readable, the navigation remains usable without a mouse and no information is carried by colour alone. The statement applies to newsfoti.net only.
2. Known limitations
Some pictures are general illustrations with a short alternative text rather than a full description.
3. Measures taken
Pages are built with semantic HTML: headings follow a single order, lists are marked as lists and links say where they lead. Navigation and content form separate regions, the language of each page is declared, and informative images have alternative texts while decorative ones are marked as such.
Colours are selected so that body text, links and buttons maintain a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 against their background. Font sizes are expressed in relative units, so that text can be enlarged in the browser without content being cut off. Links, menus and form fields can be operated using the keyboard alone.
4. Standards
We aim for conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. At present this site is only partially conformant: most content satisfies the guidelines, while the points listed below do not. Where a requirement cannot be met immediately, we look for another way of supplying the information.
5. Other ways to reach us
The website is not the only way to get information from newsfoti. You can call us on 01524 360184 during business hours, write to [email protected] or send a letter to 14 Lune Mill Court, Lancaster LA1 1QD; if a page does not work for you, we can read its content to you by telephone or send it as plain text.
6. Feedback
Please report any accessibility problem by email to [email protected] or by telephone on 01524 360184. A short note on the page, the difficulty and the device or assistive technology involved helps us reproduce the fault; we usually reply within five working days and explain what we will do about it.
7. Preparation of this statement
This statement is dated 19 October 2026 and is based on a self-assessment by newsfoti, not on an external audit. We tested the navigation, the contact form and the main page types ourselves with a keyboard, browser zoom and a screen reader, and we review the text once a year and whenever the website is rebuilt.
